Q. When I visit my Class, how can I tell what is new?
A. Teachers, Students, and Parents can discover updates to classes and new posts to conversations in three ways: by accessing the What's New? tool, Notifications, and Announcements!
Like most features in PowerSchool Learning, there are multiple ways to accomplish the same task, so you may want to explore each option and see which works best for you.
When there have been changes to a class since the last time that you've logged in, you'll be able to access the What's New? tool. This tool will give you a list of changes and posts that you can jump to in seconds!
Just go to the upper right-hand corner of your screen and click the “What’s New?” button.
A small window will pop up with any new Announcements, Discussion posts/replies, Inbox and Assignment messages that have been created since you last viewed the Class. If you look in the lower right-hand corner of the window, it will show when this was last updated. If you want to see more information about an item, then click it.
Note: New items that appear in the pop-up will be cleared from the list as you visit them. Once you've visited all of the items from the pop-up, you'll still see the What's New? alert until the next time that you log into your account!
There are also times that the teacher will post an Announcement so that when you log in and visit a Class, the message pops up in front of you automatically. You can always view past Announcements through the Announcements area of the Messages tab, or on your Portal, too.
One more way to know what’s new in your Class is to set up your Notifications. These settings are related to your account and can be set send you email, instant email, or text message notifications anytime you receive an Announcement, or an Inbox message, etc.
You can learn more about setting up your Notifications in this article, “How can I be notified of new and updated content in my classes?”
