[d] What happens if a user isn’t assigned a password in the import file?

Follow

Q: What happens if a user isn’t assigned a password in the import file?

A: This depends on several factors. One of the following will happen:

  1. If a user is authenticating using LDAP or Fedrated Login, this is actually ideal. You should not have PowerSchool Learning passwords active if you are using an alternate method of authentication.
  2. For the first upload, if a user account is uploaded without a password, the account will be created but the user cannot log in.
  3. If the "Allow imported users to reset their own password" checkbox is not checked, and the user already has a password uploaded from a previous import, then the user's password will be overwritten and the user will not be able to log in.
  4. If the "Allow imported users to reset their own password" checkbox is checked, and the user already has a password uploaded from before, then the user's password will be unaffected.

To access the above settings from the domain control: Manage Domain > Settings > Users tab > Password Settings section (see image below).
