Q. How do I set up automatic imports from SAMs (CentralAccess) to PowerSchool Learning?
A. Central Access has created a process to export data that is consistent with the PowerSchool Learning import specifications. The process is available to all users of SAMs via their CAC Data Agent. To configure this process, follow the steps below:
Open up a ticket with Central Access to have them turn on the Data Agent for PowerSchool Learning.
Configure the Data Agent with the location on your network where the export file should be stored and the time at which you wish the export to be run. (Central Access can assist you with this process.)
Configure SFTP to transfer the file from your network to PowerSchool Learning.
You will need some help from the PowerSchool Learning team with this last step.
If you wish to have PowerSchool Learning connect to an SFTP service on your network:
Contact your School Advisor to automate the import process. You will need to provide them with the following information.
- The IP or URL of your SFTP server.
- The path to the export file provided from SAMs.
- The username for the PowerSchool Learning SFTP account.
- The password for the PowerSchool Learning SFTP account.
If you wish to use the PowerSchool Learning SFTP server:
Contact your School Advisor to have them configure their SFTP service for your school/district. You will need to provide them with the following information.
- IP from where you intend to connect
Our team will respond with further information on how to connect to our SFTP server. Once you have this, you will need to schedule an automatic task on your network to connect to PowerSchool Learning's SFTP service and push your data file to the PowerSchool Learning servers.
